Wii Top Console

The Nintendo Wii has now officially overtaken the xbox 360 as the top console, total Wii sales surpassing total xbox 360 sales, and it was also announced the greenest of the 3 next gen consoles. This is due to the fact that not only does the Wii consume much less energy than the other two consoles, but also because Nintendo is the only console maker that earns a profit on each and every Wii sold, while Sony and Microsoft lose money with each console sold.

Nintendo Update

In the last couple of days, analyst have suggested that the Nintendo Wii has finally outsold the Xbox 360, with over 10.57 million consoles sold since its launch date. Although many of you may be thinking "well that's not so great, the Xbox 360 sells for almost twice what the Wii does". While correct, one must keep in mind that, first of all, the Wii is still in high demand and unable to be found in many stores, and unlike Microsoft and Sony, Nintendo makes money with every Wii sold, while the other gaming companies lose money with each console sold.

Nintendo's Vice President of marketing also made it clear that an upgraded version of the Wii could be possible in the near future, as analyst have suggested that Nintendo may very well lost some of its core gaming audience due to the Wii's dearth of graphical capability that many believe will shorten its life span as the graphics continue to become more dated.

Wii Update

If you've scanned the latest Wii headlines, one inescapable story is how Metroid Prime is shaping up to be possibly the premier first person shooter for the wii. This is welcome news, especially after the poor performance of Call of Duty 3, and if the developers of this game really have mastered the implication of the wii motion sensitivity to a first person shooter, Metroid Prime 3 could be the Halo of the Wii.

On a lighter note, many of the early testers chosen to play geometry wars on the Wii, which is being worked on for the Wii by Sierra, have reported that it is much more fun to play on the Wii, not only because of a few minor tweaks to the game but simply the way that the game is played through the Wiimote.

As usual, the Wii continues to outsell the Xbox 360 and PS3, and at this rate supply may never meet up with demand in the United States. No wonder so many studios are jumping aboard the Wii bandwagon.

Wii- A revolution for all

As many of us have now seen, Nintendo was not fooling around when they stated that it was their mission to entice gamers and non-gamers alike with the Wii. I have read numerous articles describing nursing homes and fitness centers that have embraced the wii and now work it into their curriculum, providing an aging community with a chance to play their favorite sports all over again and a new generation of fitness-fanatics a fun way to get their daily workout. And of course, what better way for a gamer who sits inside all day to burn off that burger from lunch then by playing his/her favorite games?

If you have any stories of someone you know who was traditionally part of that non-gamer demographic picking up a wiimote and getting their game on, be sure to email it to me at cmark40k@gmail.com , and the most interesting one at the end of the month will be selected to make an appearance on this site.

Up and Running!

After taking a week to myself down at Sea Isle City, I am proud to announce that wiistop101 is up and running! Although reviews are usually done on a weekly basis, I will be reviewing numerous games over the next couple of days to add some content to this page.

Before I get to work on that, I would like to share some exciting updates on the Nintendo Wii. For all of you who have been tracking the much-anticipated Super Smash Bros. Brawl, this game's adventure mode will include bosses, the first one being Petey Piranha, who can be found in almost any Nintendo game including but not limited to, Mario Kart Double Dash, Super Mario Sunshine, and almost any Mario platformer.

It is also worth noting that another anticipated game, Boogie , isn't quite living up to it's post e3 fame, with many critics remarking that it simply fails to deliver at the level expected of it.

Encouragingly, despite rises in the sales of Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 gaming consoles, the wii still continues to dominate the market, only being outsold by another of Nintendo's creations, the DS.

Be sure to check in daily for news on Nintendo and more game reviews, which will be coming in at an elevated pace over the next couple of days.
